Artist Statement / Bio

Lindsey Goldberg is a New York-based artist originally from New Jersey, currently dividing her time between New York City and Tennessee. Her interdisciplinary practice delves into the Western cultural tendency to associate women with the earth, often relegating them to limiting and stagnant roles of providing maintenance and care. Through her work, Lindsey captures the intimate moments of womanhood, exploring the lived experiences of the female figure in relation to nature and folklore. She also reflects on the nostalgia of childhood memories and the shift in perspective as one transitions into adulthood. Employing a variety of mediums, including embroidery, oil paint, ink, and graphite, she invites viewers to engage with the tactile world she creates. Her hybrid practice spans oil paintings on canvas, illustrative works, and sculptural installations.
