I believe it is through these heartfelt experiences that we will begin to establish a healthy relationship with nature. To do this I create outdoor participatory installations and nature walks that surprise habitual thinking and encourage the creation of new behavior: a gesture that returns something back to the natural environment; invented vocabulary giveing unexpected meanings to our relationship with nature; unique mapping techniques that instill a sense of membership in an ecosystem and watershed. Recent installations: The Salmon Skin Cape, Walking In Deeper, Wild Coho Salmon: The Last Migration Public installations since 1983: interpretive panels (art and text) installed in parks and preserves commissioned by the California State Coastal Conservancy, State Parks and State Department of Forestry. Teaching:
Celebration Of Trees" and "An Artist's Journey Into Nature." Ten
year residency as Artist and Naturalist Jughandle Nature Center, Caspar,
CA. MFA in Visual Art. |
