Beverly Naidus

The roles of activist, artist, and educator are intertwined in my two decades plus art practice. The imagery, objects and text found in my work have been created from memories, dreams, mass media, community stories and everyday life experiences. I merge disturbing issues with humor and hope.

Ecological themes in my work have included concerns about the epidemic of environmental illnesses, the marketing pesticides and genetically engineered agriculture, the effects of nuclear power and war, the alienation of consumer culture, hot to reclaim public space and voice, the healing of body hate, the shame and pride of being “other” and ways to breathe through and center oneself in the midst of great suffering.
