My work rises out of the strong current of life all around me: the people I see, the stories I hear, the places I visit. Underneath it all is the steady pulse of TV, newspapers and the internet. These alternating currents of information flow and swirl through my thoughts and dreams, gathering emotion and then congealing into images. They come out on paper as figures – some human, some not – in postmodern landscapes, entangled in narratives with endings not yet known. As I explore them I realize that we humans in overwhelming the natural world are overwhelming ourselves.
